Gillson Capital Accelerates Scalable Growth with Flexible Portfolio & SMA Management
How a factor‑driven hedge fund modernized operations and unlocked real‑time reporting with Enfusion by CWAN.

Welton Investment Partners is a systematic Commodity Trading Advisor (CTA) headquartered in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, managing approximately $1.2 billion across 13 funds.
The firm runs five systematic investment programs — Welton Global (Quantitative Global Macro), Welton Trend (Systematic Trend Following), Welton Advantage (Multi-Asset Portfolio), Catalyst/Welton Advantage (Multi-Asset Mutual Fund), and Welton Short-Term (Short-Term) — trading across AMER, APAC, and EMEA through a network of prime brokers and fund administrators.

Running five systematic strategies across global markets means processing 40,000+ transactions a month – across cash equities, futures, FX forwards, options, T-bills, and more. For Welton, keeping reconciliations tight across a complex network of prime brokers and fund administrators is paramount. For a firm where operational precision is inseparable from investment performance, doing all of that in-house was no longer sustainable.
“Before Enfusion, our team was spending 2-3 hours a day manually managing reconciliations across brokers and administrators. It was time we couldn’t afford to lose.”
— Dan Gallagher, Head of Operations and Investor Services
Welton brought on Enfusion by CWAN as its core investment management platform, going live on Managed Services in January 2021 and adding the PMS in October 2022. The decision to hand off middle- and back-office operations was critical to streamline the process.
Enfusion’s Managed Services team took ownership of daily reconciliations: trade, position, cash activity, and cash balance by 9:00 AM EST; back-office position recs by 11:00 AM EST. This wasn’t just about hitting deadlines but improving the way Welton operates — custom corporate action processing, automated broker notifications when trades aren’t allocated to clearing brokers, and workflows built around the firm’s preferences rather than a generic template.
On the technology side, Enfusion’s platform connects via API across Welton’s hybrid execution environment, integrating with LSEG TORA and Bloomberg alongside Enfusion’s native EMS, and consolidates data from nine prime brokers and multiple administrators into one coherent picture.
“The Enfusion team is an extension of our team, working daily to ensure all processes run smoothly.”
— Emily Fry, Head of Trading
Operations That Keep Pace With the Business
Over 40,000 transactions are processed each month, across 12 funds and a wide range of instruments — handled reliably, on schedule, every day. Welton’s operations team has a consistent, accurate view of positions and cash without having to build and maintain the infrastructure to produce it.
“What used to take our team 2-3 hours a day now just happens. The reconciliations are done before the trading day begins as the process is seamless and has proven to be reliable.”
— Dan Gallagher, Head of Operations and Investor Services
Room to Grow Without Adding Overhead
Outsourcing middle- and back-office operations to Enfusion’s Managed Services team gave Welton something harder to quantify but easy to feel: room to scale without the headcount to match.
“To manage our current volume in-house, we’d have needed to hire additional Full Time Employees. With Enfusion, we didn’t have to — we are able to leverage Enfusion’s Managed Services Team to help manage the day-to-day operational processes.”
— Todd Merrell, CFO/CCO
Built Around How Welton Works
Good operational infrastructure shouldn’t be a compromise. Welton doesn’t run generic strategies, and it doesn’t run a generic back office. Enfusion’s flexibility, in workflows, connectivity, and service delivery means the platform fits the firm, not the other way around.
“Our strategies are anything but off-the-shelf. We needed a platform that could keep up —Enfusion does that.”
— Guillaume Detrait, President/CRO
